Sitting on Shoulders and Stepping out of the Shadow (continuous)

Eine interaktive, partizipative Aktion und Sound-Installation.

Wie tritt man aus dem Schatten und emanzipiert sich von der künstlerischen Haltung und den Werken seiner Vorfahren im eigenen künstlerischen Schaffen? Diese Frage habe ich mir selbst, meinem Vater und meinem Onkel gestellt. Diese drei aufgenommenen Stimmen legen nun den Grundstein zu einem Archiv, das im Zuge der Versuchsanordnung und darüber hinaus erweitert wird.

Die erste Aktion fand am 10.10. 2020 im Rahmen der Versuchsanordnung FAMILY AFFAIRS in der Medienwerkstatt Wien statt, initiiert von Hanna Schimek.

Aufruf (bitte auch gerne weiterleiten):
Sind Sie Künstler*in und eine/einer oder gar mehrere Ihrer direkten Vorfahren sind oder
waren Künstler*innen? Dann möchte ich Sie herzlich eingeladen an einer Frage und Antwort Aktion zum Thema teilzunehmen! Das Gespräch wird mit Ihrer Einwilligung aufgezeichnet und auf Vinyl geschnitten (vinylograph.at).
Es werden zwei Platten produziert: Eine Platte kommt in das Vinylograph-Archiv, das die Stimmen der Künstler*innen vereint soll und laufend erweitert wird. Eine Platte geht als Dank an die Teilnehmer*innen an der Aktion.
Besucher*innen, die an Aktion teilnehmen wollen, werden gebeten ein Selbstportrait für das Cover auszuwählen.

How do people step out of the shadow and emancipate themselves in their own artistic work from the artistic attitude and the works of their ancestors? I have asked myself, my father and my uncle this question. These three recorded voices form the basis of an archive that will be expanded in the course of the experiment and beyond.

The action was part of the FAMILY AFFAIRS experimental arrangement at the Medienwerkstatt Wien 10.10.2020, initiated by Hanna Schimek.

Call for participation (feel free to forward)
Are you an artist and was one or even more of your direct ancestors an artist? Then you are cordially invited to participate in a public question-and-answer session on this topic. With your consent the conversation will be recorded and cut on vinyl (vinylograph.at). Two records will be produced: one record of the action will be placed in the vinylograph archive, which unites and continuously expands the voices of the artists, and one record will be sent to you as a token of gratitude.
